Outlook 98
It's free
though the end of the month! You can also get a fully functional
copy in this month's PC Computing magazine (at news-stands).
Outlook
98 is what an email program ought to be. Cleverly integrating
a contact manager, email capabilities, scheduling and task delegation,
the huge piece of software is a real gem. It's seriously worth the
productivity hit you'll take while installing it.
As usual,
the benefits - it's from Microsoft. The disadvantages? You guessed
it, it's from Microsoft. You'll want to install it over a weekend
with a friend (to listen to your complaints.)
But, once
installed, the tool automates a pile of the normal recruiting challenges.

Search Tips
Sometimes,
the simplest tips pack the most powerful punch. AltaVista has added
a new Career Zone with
two powerful tools for Recruiting.
- The Resume
Database includes the ability to search resumes from all of
the major online services, the Internet at large or both. Currently,
the service gives a better interface to the Headhunter.net database.
Eventually, they'll categorize the bulk of openly available Resumes.
- The Job
Posting process is as simple as pie!. Simply add the URL of
your job listings to their database. This will make your jobs
searchable by jobhunters who visit the Career Zone.
There is one
small implication that you might want to think about. Your job postings
are going to get much better visibility if you place them on your
website as separate pages! So, while your tech-staff is urging the
use of a database for administrative purposes, the you'll want to
consider alternatives so that the ads will actually get seen. |
