Exploit
You'll remember
our oft reeated assertion that 50% of the expense of using the web
is marketing. While digging for candidates, you definitely want
to be building traffic to your site. You want to list specific jobs
in as many places as possible.
We've gotten
quite fond of Exploit's
Submision Wizard.
With nearly
600 search engines at your disposal, the submission tool easily
outperforms its competition. The first 250 submissions are automatic.
You have to tweak the remainder by hand.
In our office,
we've hired a full time person who does nothing but submit URLs
through Exploit. Our 6 month license cost $89. Our traffic is way
up.

Tip: WebTurbo
The web
offers what can seem like impenetrable volumes of information to
scavenge. We've suggested, over time, that you begin to build a
library of fully spidered sites. We've suggested an array of commercially
available tools (see the archives).
WebTurbo
takes a slightly different approach. Instead of spidering massive
sites in one sitting, Web Turbo offers you the opportunity to surf
one page ahead. It's a free plugin for your browser. It shows you
the links in the next page you plan to visit. It simply adds an
additional window to your browser to do this.
If the high
volume spiders are good for digging through massive sites, WebTurbo
islike a fine detail tool. It allows you to cut out the download
wait as you move around the web.
It's free
from Webturbo. The tool is
paid for by the little ads that appear in your browser window. Try
it.
