Niche Job Postings

Find Your Niche

Sometimes we're generalists, but often we need to target our efforts in a particular direction. After all, if we're in a niche, the chances of finding other like minded people is greater. And sometimes, being in a niche allows an extra opportunity for finding just the people you seek.

Being part of a niche, though, can be difficult unless you can find professional associations and industry related employment sites that make inhabiting the niche more pleasant and profitable. Yet there are thousands of professional associations in the US alone, and just about as many web sites that deal with employment.

There are, though, a few sites that can lead you in the right direction. These are la creme de la creme.

Finding Associations

Finding Industry Related Employment Sites

  • Purdue University maintains an amazing array of employment information, not the least of which is this page of links to employment opportunity in more than 20 specific fields and industries. From this page you can access hundreds of very useful niche employment sites
  • Dynamic Cover Letters, while not as cleanly organized as Purdue's site, offers links to employment sites, categorized by industry. Entries are as diverse as Construction Site Jobs Database and The American Physical Society's listing for physicists.
  • Women in Technology offers job opportunities and a networking cafe
  • TechWeb offers job postings, resume postings, salary surveys and links to IT stuff
  • IBN's niche directory

And If That's Not Enough

You can always go to Internet Sleuth‘s business page and do a search of your own through their directories. Or try Margaret Riley's Guide, which has extensive links to employment sites by industry and links of interest to women, minorities, and recruiters. Then, too, there's always Yahoo's Career Fields employment site.
