Outplacement Report Reveals Online Tools are Expected and Critical to Success of Career Transition Process

Insala announces the release of a new research report on current perspectives in career transition offerings indicating the expectation and critical role of online tools in the outplacement process.

The Insala Outplacement Report 2010 is based on a survey of C-level and human resource executives and offers first of its kind insights into the previously understudied career transition industry. Insala is the global leader in career development and talent management solutions.

Highlights of the report demonstrate that respondents believe company- sponsored career transition services bring value, that there is a high expectation of online tools and resources, and that online tools are critical to success of exiting staff. Online Tools, Critical to Success

The majority of the executives (67 percent) expect online self-service tools to be a component of outplacement and that they are critical to the success of the outgoing employee. Furthermore, online self-service tools are considered most effective and highly beneficial when used to complement high-touch services such as one-on-one coaching. The higher-ranked online tools include networking tools, targeted job leads and company research tools.

Career Transition: It's Company Policy

The report shows 93 percent of surveyed executives believe career transition services bring value to exiting employees and the organizations providing the services, while 74 percent of executive respondents say their company provides career transition services to exiting employees as part of its company policy.

Of the surveyed respondents, 56 percent indicate that career transition services are "very important," while 24 percent indicate they are "important"- demonstrating the significance of career transition services and the expectation of its provision.

"With this survey, we wanted to get an idea of how business leaders view career transition services," says Phillip Roark, president and CEO of Insala. "Is it a necessity or nice-to-have? We asked what they find most useful, least useful and what their expectations are in order to help vendors be better service providers and, hopefully, be more innovative and flexible. Equally important, we want to gather information to help prospective customers be better `shoppers' of career transition services. This is our latest research in career transition and we look forward to releasing more throughout 2010."
