November 18, 1995: Webpages from your database
Update. Our friends at Internet Literacy Consultants have improved and released a trial verision of their interesting Webgen software. Webgen will take the output of a database file (a delimited format) and turn it in to a series of indexed (and cross-indexed) web pages. You'll need a UNIX guru, initially, but the process seems pretty dummy proof. It's a great tool for managing complex sites with frequent, broad updates.

November 16, 1995: Made in Sweden
We've been getting a little Anglo-centric. After all, this is the World Wide Web. From our Scandinavian friends at SPRAY comes a masterpiece of Website Design. It's worth a look to see what's possible with server-push / client pull.

Locally, you'll enjoy the rambling, disjointed humor, mixed with Marketing savvy, on the Sharrow and Associates Marketing and Advertising Home Page. At the very least, they ought to win a prize for longest home page name. The site is chock full of something and is reminiscent of urban development without zoning. Kudos for not taking themselves too seriously.

    November 15, 1995: 10.000 organizations
Here's an above average gem. New Market Business Forum provides, among other things, a fully searchable database of 10,000 professional organizations. This is a marketing dream.

    November 14, 1995: Multimedia wire
We're big fans of MM Wire. for a regular shot at the Multimedia news (updated weekly) there's nothing as on target for trends in our world. It's the closest thing to a professional hangout around. They've done a nice job integrating professional development resources and professional opportunity.

    November 13, 1995: Promophobia launched
We took a long weekend to start new projects. See PROMOPHOBIA and Disney for Adults. They're still partial, and not quite ready for prime time, but the design may inspire you.

Web growth is producing lag time in the responses from directory listings like Yahoo!. Reeling under the weight of being the Web's favorite directory, the Yahoo team has fallen behind in it's workload. Ah, the pains of growth.

What's amazing is how quickly the competitors come out from the woodwork. Check out the current conversation in the Internet Marketing List. Yahoo is suffering growing pains, but they remain the only decent subject oriented directory on line. Here's our vote of confidence.

The competitors like to claim that quantity + search engine is somehow comparable to Yahoo's painstaking organization.

    Not!
