    Back Issues, Weekly
    Week Ending: Oct 21, 1995
    October 21, 1995: Pointcom
I used to run a place called Point. This is definitely not the same thing. Of particular interest is their WebNews Page. It's a summary of news about the Web from the other daily WebNews Services.

    October 20, 1995: Netscape 2, Knapsack
In spite of its bugginess, the beta version of Netscape 2.0 is a delight. Get a copy and take a look at The Discovery Channel. They're planning some amazing things including a service called Knapsack that will search the Web, night and day. It reports back to you by email. It's not operational, but it sure sounds promising.

    October 19, 1995: Cutting Edge
Stay abreast of the Cutting Edge. The site provides examples of the latest and greatest uses of the Web. The site has great connections to chat demos, various cameras and other moves towards technical integration with non-web media.

October 18, 1995: Electronic Recruiting Index
A book is a huge amount of work. The ERI weighed in at 560 pages and 3.5 lbs. schwew!

The Cobel Target Marketing WWW Page is a gold mine of ideas and insight. The key to marketing on the web is understanding that there is no "one" web. Targeting and relationship development are everything.

Here's a brain teaser for you. As we prepared the ERI we decided that:

The best web page gets you immediately off the web.

    October 17, 1995: JobCenter's future
JobCenter is a view of the future. Where other job sites are built around the "come search our database" model, Gene Wolf at Job Center focuses on marrying information with the right receivers. Fill out a form and they send you matching jobs. Fill out a form and they cross post your resume or job listing to Usenet.

Imagine a world in which the information provider has to prepare a tailored Webpage for each customer. It's coming.

    October 16, 1995: Web Week
If you're going to thrive in this new world, you've got to read the "trades". Try Web Week. It's no Interactive Age, but it has a stronger understanding of the industry issues (telcos etc.)
