    August 26, 1995: Web-o-Matic
Anyone can have a home page, impress your friends, $12/month..... Web-o-Matic. Great idea that includes an automatic background changer. For many small businesses, this kind of do-it-yourself presence is all that you really need.

As you might guess, I'm a big fan of one-stop-shopping on the net. Internet Literacy Consulting.

    Track a Fedex package
    Enter the full Airbill #
    (including any dashes)

It works. Use View source to add this feature to one of your pages!

    August 25, 1995: E-Docs
For an interesting advertising scheme and a lot of useful marketing data, see E-Docs. It's an ftp site, so you won't find pretty graphics. But, the 30 or so files are great resource lists. The bookmarks file is a treasure trove of marketing resources on-line.

August 24, 1995: Color ramp, research
A basic color ramping utility is provided by Net Creations. They seem to get a lot of mileage out of developing interesting applications for the Web community.
    August 23, 1995: Graphics, Research
One of these days, I'm going to write an article called
Too Much Money, Too Little Sense: Graphics On The Web. There's a tradeoff. Pretty graphics and intense backgrounds take time, my most precious resource. If you're building a site for the year 1998, when everyone has ISDN and graphics compression is perfected, big graphics files should be a part of your arsenal. If you want to reach me, with my 28.8 dialup, please don't make me wait for your graphics.

That said, ASI Research has teamed up with the big boys (Yankelovich and Neilsen). Underneath the graphics is a lot of value in site links and reports. These guys have all the pieces to migrate from traditional advertising to the Web. My bet is that the big picture might elude them. Hit the text mode button on the way in.

    August 22, 1995: Seth Godin's Marketing
There are some useful resources that aren't on the net. Seth Godin's eMARKETING ($14, Perigree Books) is a solid technical survey of the complete array of e-tools. It's laced with inspirational forecasting by Regis McKenna, Don Peppers and Martha Rogers. Underneath the tacky neon and silver cover is a grounded introduction to Fax on Demand, database marketing, home shopping et all. Nice Sunday afternoon read.

    August 22, 1995: GrabNet Update
Update ....GrabNet has fixed their package so it no longer blows up on my machine. They have one of the finest customer service groups in the business. See Aug 7 listing for a fuller review. Grabnet is a bookmark organizer.

    August 21, 1995: WebTrack
WebTrack is a 'Who's Who' and 'What's What' of Web Marketing and Advertising. The site includes a Top 250 Web Sites listing and a database of advertisers and their web presences.

    August 20, 1995: Krave's Page
Marketing on the Internet is a fantastic introduction to the arena.

Krave's Page provides pointers to the churning edge of net-technology. The fact that he's 14 underscores the shift in the paradigm.
