    Multimedia Web

Looks like we're going to become devotees of the weekly Multimedia Web column from IWorld. This week's column (which will end up in their archives shortly) is the third Installment of a series on Internet Advertising. It covers the top level of ad sales.

The series as a whole looks like this so far:

    Tripod

We think the folks at Tripod are near-geniuses. As a part of their recent redesign, they've added a great new section on page design dilemmas. As always, Tripod is leading the pack by providing their members with home pages, resume development tools and design tips at no additional charge. We imagine that the combination of features and attitude make Tripod readers very loyal.

    AN SIG Pidgin

Our guess? You probably didn't even know that you needed to know about Context and Concept Filtering. The idea is that keyword searching will be replaced by increasingly more powerful search technologies rooted in relevance rather than exact matches to keywords. While the material gave us a bit of a headache, and tends toward the classic mastery of minutiae, we think you'll find a short look will give you plenty to think about.

    Absolut-ly Fabulous

Absolut is blurring the distinction between advertising in some very interesting ways. Their new site, Absolut Kelly is a sort of "Dewar's Profile" of Kevin Kelly, the executive editor at Wired. Rather than the one page, tongue in cheek profile of Dewar's heyday, the Absolut site pushes the envelope in a number of ways. We found the conversation bots to be particularly interesting.

    Jobs for Web Designers
Take a look at the Web Engineer's Toolbox. A modest yet comprehensive destination for technical professionals involved in Website Design and Construction, the site developers have there eyes on their audience. The latest feature on Web Engineer's Toolbox is a Web Career Center for HTML authors and webmasters. Currently, job listings are free. Its both a great resource for recruiting web savvy professionals and a classic example of the evolution of the online employment marketplace towards professional alliances.
