If your promotional needs include reaching radio stations, the Unemployed Disc Jockey's site provides a wealth of links to Global Radio websites.

If you're using Netscape 2.0, there is a scrolling message at the bottom of this window. To add this feature to your pages, use the "View Source" Command, copy the HTML between the commands, paste in your pages and change the message.

Visit the Micro-Movie Miniplex (Where the reviews are longer than the movies). While everyone else is running out to install expensive animation systems, some very interesting work is being done with GIF animations (that's right, the file downloads as a GIF!). Check out the animated icons (but only if you're using Netscape 2.0)

The Rate O Matic Website Review Tool is an interesting partnership between Yahoo! and Ziff-Davis. By opening their review process to the public, they've launched an interesting alternative to the various review based search engines. It's, at the very least, a great new place to promote your Website.

We've completed our essay for the 24 Hours Of Democracy project. As a sort of counterpoint, the following item appeared in IEEE Computer Magazine.

...I suspect that an uncomfortably large segment of the public is also made uneasy by rapid technological developments. They sense, possibly correctly, that not all prospects are rosy and that not everyone will benefit equally, and they fear that they may be among those left out. From this perspective, the Internet is viewed as something alien and hostile, populated by an arrogant elite claiming to be above social control and using the technology to promote its own values and interests.

-- Fred W. Weingarten, IEEE Computer Magazine, February 1996

It's easy to forget just how much of marketing is an educational function. Our collective ability to expand the electronic marketplace is fundamentally dependent on public acceptance of the technology.

IEEE (the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) has been wrestling with the public acceptance of technology for over 50 years. Though decidedly non-marketing in their approach, a tour through their expansive website may well spark your thinking. Web development is plagued by a continual "re-invention of the wheel" syndrome. The folks at IEEE have invented the wheel (and documented it) a couple of times themselves, in other arenas.

Jim Sterne is one of the better selling authors of books on Web Marketing. His article, Easy Clickings appeared in WebMaster Magazine (one of our favorites). Though he seems a little stuck on the idea of "trapping" or "capturing" readers for our tastes, the article is a decent review of options and possibilities. After you've read Easy Clickings, poke around the rest of his Website. Tightly integrated with the advertising are some useful ideas. Bring a filter.
