    Getting There

(February 7, 1997): Somehow, all of the career advice you read neglects to mention getting to the interview. Bleary eyed and somewhat nervous, getting lost on the way to the interview is a lot more common than you might imagine. (In other words, you're not the only one who gets lost.) Leave it to the web to solve the problem.

The next time you have an interview scheduled, vist the Yahoo! Maps page. Using a simple form, you can either get a map printed (with an X marking the location) or have the site generate Point to Point Driving Instructions. The service even offers visual driving instructions with a small map picture of each turn you have to make.

Now all you have to do is avoid spilling coffee on yourself in the process.

    Interesting Tours II

    Interesting Tours

(February 5, 1997): We're big fans of the Ziff-Davis AnchorDesk. The site behaves more like a magazine than most of the other pretenders. It oriented towards the cmputer industry, so it clearly isn't of interest to everyone. But, if you're trying to keep up with the mad swirl of technology, it deserves a bookmark.

Today's feature is called "Finding the Perfect Job On the Web". With lots of useful references (including downloadable tools for all platforms), the story is a near perfect introduction to Web Job Hunting. Take a peek.

    Advertising Jobs

(February 3, 1997): The Monster Board and Advertising Age have opened a web page for job hunters in the Advertising Industry. The Advertising Age Job Bank tries to streamline the job search process for marketing, advertising and creative types. Related career materials include a salary survey, counseling, resume tips, and offer evaluation hints.

For a job hunter, this type of focused professional advertising site prunes away all of the irrelevant material and gets straight to the heart of the search. If you're looking for work in this industry, start here.
