Cookies
(January 23, 1997):Using the net for a job hunt implies staying abreast of technology. Cookies are the way that the companies you visit on the web keep track of you and your interests (not all companies use them, but some do). If you're at all concerned about the privacy of the information you post around the net, you'll want to take a look at Commercialization of the World Wide Web: The Role of Cookies. It's a paper which provides a very good explanation of how cookies work and how they are currently being used to track information about user behavior. The paper was written by five students in the MBA Electronic Commerce program at the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University, and is written primarily for a marketing audience.

Summer Jobs

(January 19, 1997): Now is a great time to begin considering what you'll be doing this summer. If you are a teacher or a student (or anyone fortunate enough to be able to change jobs for the summer), you'll want to visit Cool Works. The site is, by far, the most comprehensive set of listings for seasonal employment in National Parks and deals exclusively with employers who hire seasonal help. If you've ever imagined working in the Rockies, on an Alaskan cruise line or on some other exotic adventure, check them out.
