Career Magazine
(January 11, 1997): Do you read Career Magazine? The Boulder, CO based Website offers the following features:
    • The Job Openings Database. Every day they download and index job postings from the major Internet newsgroups. Postings are searchable by location, job title and/or skills required.

    • The Resume Bank, where you can enter resume information to be placed into the Resume Bank via an online form.

    • Employer Profiles, where you will find detailed information on employers around the world.

    • Products and Services to help you manage your career.

    • Articles and News to help you plan and execute your networked career search.

    • The Career Forum, a moderated discussion area where you can network with others, generate leads, share experiences, and seek advice.

    • Career Links to other Career-Related Resources on the World Wide Web.
Resume Plugin
(January 10, 1997): Take a look at Resumail, a Texas based service. They offer a browser plug-in for Resumes. One of the tough problems in current online recruiting is that resumes can pour in from all over the world in a huge array of formats. The Resumail idea is to provide job hunters with a standard interface. Companies (and recruiters) who have the Resumail software on the receiving end get standardized inputs for review.

As a job hunter, you get the benefit of knowing that your digital resume will be in the precise format required by the employer. Resumail currently has a stable of 80 companies that use the tool. Submitting a resume that works in their system can be done at the push of a button. If you're a Windows (3.1 or 95) user, they're currently offering a free download of the tool. We suggest that you try it.

Pure Soap
(January 9, 1997): Some companies thrive on a kind of innovation that's simply astounding when you consider how long they've been in business. At 160 years old, we hardly expected that Procter and Gamble would be one of them. Then we remembered all of the commercials and last years moves to introduce perfrmance based advertising to the web. We're pretty certain that P&G is a great place to work.

Anyhow, they've got this incredible careers section of their website. It includes tons of interesting corporate background, global job opportunities and the schedule of their recruiting program. The site is solid enough to make you wish you worked there.

Chicago Computer Jobs
(January 8, 1997): Part of the problem with job hunting on the net is that the number and kinds of sites with employment advertising changes very rapidly. This year, there will be a lot of growth in sites that focus on the combination of region and professional specialty.

The Chicago Software Newspaper is a great example. With articles about the industry, a directory of suppliers, employment advertising and a directory of placement firms, the website covers all of the bases for employment searches and research in the industry in the region.

Over the course of the next year, we expect to see many similar offerings from other industries in other regions.

Searching
(January 7, 1997): The real experts in searching are librarians. LEO (Librarians and Educators Online) have created a free resource sit called Search Insider which provides search tips, news, reviews, and advice related to searching the Web. Search Insider also covers new search sites and developments to existing search engines that can be important to job hunters. The bulk of the information on this site covers tips and tricks for effective searching or analysis of which search engine is best for which task.
Two More Homes For Your Resume
(January 6, 1997): Two interesting entrants, same strategy, same company name Headhunter.net cross posts all resumes submitted to its service to applicable USENET groups. This is nothing short of unique in a free posting service. They also have a fascinating addition to their job search page that offers mileage from the job hunter's town to the town with the job. Searches can even be pegged to a geographic radius.

ICE, on the other hand, offers more traditional post and search capabilities.

You should take a moment and submit your resume to both of these services.
