We've upgraded and expanded our listing of Companies Offering Job Listings. The list now includes nearly 500 companies with links to both their home page (for research) and direct links to their job listings. The list is large (about 100K) and will take a couple of minutes to load on to your machine. It's a great place to start pumping out your resumes.

Resume Distribution
Bulk faxing of resumes can be done from your desktop. We're particularly impressed with the potent combination of data collection using a contact manager (like ACT Mac or IBM versions) and a solid desktop fax system (like FaxSTF Mac Only). Using the combination, you can send modestly tailored form faxes in batches of 50 or so to a collected list of targets.
Obviously, we suggest that you use our Recruiter's database, but there are a variety of sources for shipping volumes of your credentials to potential employers and recruiters. As always, we suggest that you send resumes and cover letters through at least two simultaneous channels....(email and fax; email and mail; or fax and mail) using a contact manager with an embedded word processor can really speed the process.

Thinking About the Hunt
A job search is a marketing campaign, plain and simple. In times past, when careers lasted lifetimes, workers only had to master marketing as a job hunting tool from time to time. In today's world, finding a job, keeping a job and growing in a job all involve mastering basic marketing skills. We'd suggest that you keep your eye on a couple of key resources:
A matching service takes your preferences (usually through a form) and returns opportunities that match them. Two new entrants have joined the game. P.J.Scout, a service from NationJob will help you find matching opportunities that match your interests in the midwest. CareerMart calls their matching system an electronic agent. It scavenges opportunities in their jobs database. Both are free and worth investigating

Outdoor Opportunity
From our friends at Cool Works come the following outdoor opportunities:
We offer you two interesting sites to visit today. 4 Work will be of most interest (currently) to people looking for internships. The site features a matching service (like Job Center, Intellimatch or ESpan) but keyword oriented. Use them if you're trying to find an internship. Watch them if you're hunting for work.
We also want to remind you about the great Stanford Career Guide. If you're looking for a solid platform from which to begin your search, there are few better places to start. There are a couple of other great online job guides listed in our tools section.

oooooooooops
In yesterday's item, we posted an erroneous pointer to the Salary Surveys from Espan's Interactive Employment Network . A very thoughtful reader pointed it out and offered us the correct URL. It's fixed now. (and thanks, Stephen).
