The job looked ideal. The interview went great. They liked your stuff, and now they're itching to hire you.
Now what?
Sometimes, the only thing worse than not getting the job can be getting it. As humans, we're generally pretty sedentary creatures; few of us like having to pack up and move often. It's comfortable knowing your way around.
Getting a new job (and preparing to leave your current one) is a stressful procedure. You're quite often plagued with those little voices in the back of your head that say "This job wasn't so bad! Why are we leaving? We know everybody here, we know how it works, and we don't have to prove it to anyone any more."
Stuff those little voices in a mason jar and proceed, my friend.
Your leaving has an impact on the people you worked with. Armchair psychologists will tell you that there are basically two common reactions: the Cold Shoulder, or "how-dare-you-leave-you-traitor", and the Best Buddy, or "now-that-you're-leaving-I-can-be-nice-to-you". Either way, you're out of there. Remember why you're moving on. Hesitation kills - even in this market.
