(October 27, 1996): We're hard at work on the next edition of the Electronic Recruiting Index (to be published in December). As a part of our research, we've surveyed nearly 1500 Corporate Recruiting Sites. If you're in corporate HR, take a look at the competition. If your in third party recruiting, it's a great look at the HR Online Marketplace. The Whole HR Suite (October 24, 1996): The current issue of WebWeek features a story on ATT's use of the net for a broad spectrum of HR functions. "Taking HR To The Next Level" puts a spotlight on an important notion. Recruiting is a component of a full HR function and must be tightly integrated to be truly effective. Non Industry Recruiters (October 23, 1996):We're surprised that none of the firms you might call "traditional recruiters" have matched the services of Tripod or Extreme Resume Drop
Privacy (October 22, 1996): Is it a big deal? Although we tend to downplay the ultimate role of privacy in the evolution of the Internet, it seems to be a big (and getting bigger) bugaboo. For a comprehensive picture, take a look at the Stalker's Home Page. It's not really a collection of tools for stalkers, it's more of an alarmist's look at the potential of the net to invade privacy.
Career Descriptions (October 21, 1996):In what we think is the beginning of a trend, Webmaster Magazine convened a professional forum to discuss: What are webmasters? What do they do? What kind of skills do they need? What do they earn? Should they be certified? How do employers recruit and retain them? Where do they fit into the organization? Where's the profession going? We have assembled a set of resources and a panel of experts to help you answer these and related issues about "webmastery". Drop in on our online forum to ask questions, find answers, share observations and learn more about this dynamic, evolving profession and its implications for your business, or just delve into the other information you'll find here.If you're interested in the various ways that webmasters work in organizations, this material is a must read. More importantly, it reflects a new approach to career counseling made possible by the web. Traditionally, this sort of peer to peer discussion of an occupation was limited to small, real-time settings and could only be distributed with the awkward use of video cassette. We expect to see similar forums. conducted by professional groups, covering many disciplines. They will emerge over the next 18 months. Both corporate HR and specialty third party recruiters will benefit greatly from associations with these projects as they appear.
Recruiters' Internet (AUGUST 01, 1996): It's here and we're proud. Staffing Industry Resources has published the Recruiter's Internet Survival Guide by our editor, John Sumser. Order your copy today.
