Tech Trends Q2 2012
(July 12, 2012) The unemployment rate for technology professionals was unchanged year/year in the second quarter, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
As compared to the previous quarter, unemployment rates declined sharply for web developers, network architects, computer systems analysts, and software developers.
Concerns around economic growth or perhaps uncertainty regarding the European situation may be holding back employees from leaving their positions. In the first two months of the second quarter, 390,000 employees in professional and business services quit their positions. That's up from the low during the recession (255,000, Q3 2009), but no where near the peak during the last economic expansion (536,000, Q4 2006).
