(July 9, 2012) Senior Care Community Improving Resident Care With Hiring Technology

When Michigan-based senior living community Singh Senior Living considered how to best use technology for staffing its eight senior living communities, it didn’t have to look too far: Michigan-based JobApp Network, an end-to-end automated talent management system, received an ALFA award (Assisted Living Federation of America) in 2011 for excellence in senior living programs.

Job growth in senior care is outpacing any other industry. The U.S. Census Bureau projects the number of people 65 and older to increase from 40 million to 72 million between 2010 and 2030, while the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects employment increasing in nursing care facilities by 24% over the 2008 — 2018 decade.

And we are doing this without any paper!” Onboarding efficiency means that 82 pieces of paper per new hire were eliminated, that candidates have most new hire paperwork done before they start, and can get right to work on Day 1. “It’s five minutes with the hiring manager on Day 1,” said Fenberg.

Compliance in hiring with the government’s Form I-9 is another important JobApp plus for Singh. “We can’t really make a mistake,” said Fenberg. “JobApp’s I-9 solution is designed so we’re not guessing — it’s very clear about what can and what can’t be used by a new hire to prove their identity and ability to work in the U.S.” This is important in era of increased government oversight. Audits by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.) have more than quadrupled over the last three years.
