WorldatWork Launches Four New Compensation Courses (June 29, 2012) WorldatWork, a global human resources association, has introduced four new courses in compensation based on changing market needs. “The environment in which compensation professionals operate is becoming more complicated,” said Susan Marty, Associate Director, Product Management, WorldatWork. “We are responding to our members’ and customers’ need for deeper technical knowledge in specialized areas such as designing and implementing pay programs for an increasingly global workforce.” The four new courses are:
Expatriate Compensation Policy and Strategy — Many organizations are responding to global market forces through international expansion. In most cases, these companies do not have the expertise to design and implement an effective expatriate compensation strategy. This course helps attendees put cost-effective mobility policies and strategies in place that align with company goals and competitive strategies. This course teaches participants how to structure cost-effective policies to achieve specific mobility goals. Understanding unique mobility drivers can help organizations make better business decisions. Case studies using real-world examples, exercises, and interactive activities help reinforce course content. Starts October 2, 2012. Pay Structures—Develop a Framework from Start to Finish — For HR and compensation practitioners, knowing how to build pay structures is an extremely marketable skill to have on one’s resume. In this course participants will learn how to develop, administer and maintain pay structures—giving them the flexibility to perform this work in house, saving time and money. With this skill-building seminar participants will begin the course with an overview of pay structures and job evaluation methods, and then move into other important skills such as how to: perform job evaluation; apply different types of salary grades; utilize market data and company pay philosophies; and use tools and formulas to help develop a pay structure. Once the pay structure has been established, instruction focuses on how to manage employees’ pay using the pay structure, as well as key issues to be considered when reviewing the pay structure each year. Starts September 18, 2012. Excel Tips for Compensation Professionals — Compensation professionals process and analyze large amounts of data. Many rely on Microsoft® Excel®, which can be complex and intimidating. Excel Tips for Compensation Professionals provides instructional step-by-step video demonstrations of important Excel functions that can save a compensation practitioner vast amounts of time in analyzing data. The tips include visual and audio demonstrations, a job aid, as well as sample spreadsheets. Each demonstration is instructed in the context of compensation work—so participants see exactly how and when to use these Excel functions. Available now. All these courses are eligible for re-certification credits for the Certified Compensation Professional® (CCP®). For additional information, click here.
