European Online Recruitment Activity Grows by 21 Percent Annually, Reports Monster Employment Index

October 2010 Index Highlights:

The Monster Employment Index Europe increased by 21 percent on an annual basis, with relatively strong online recruitment activity across the majority of the European Union
Transport, post and logistics led all industry sectors in yearly growth, followed by automotive
Belgium noted the best improvement in annual growth rate between September and October; France exhibited the fastest monthly growth rate in the Index

"We continue to see manufacturing and related sectors among the top trending industries in recruitment activity. Additionally, demand for workers in a number of professional services, including science and technology, is returning, suggesting that business investment is on the rise."

Summary Overview
Longer term online recruitment trends across Europe improved this month, with the annual growth rate for the European Index accelerating from 21 percent in September to 23 percent in October. Both production and transport-related industries reported monthly gains; these were not attached to seasonal patterns, but instead suggest continued improvement in underlying demand drivers. Both sectors saw acceleration in long-term growth rates.

The professional service segment continues to chart general improvements in demand, however banking, finance, insurance; and accounting, audit, taxes are exhibiting more reserved growth trends, at seven and six percent respectively.
