WorkforceStrategies.com presents a Geo-Workforce Analysis

(October 2, 2009)   Biotech Talent: A Geo-Workforce Analysis

As local industry specific economies increasingly take hold and grow across the U.S., we will continue to see different kinds of skill needs and pockets of talent emerge depending on the location. A geographical workforce analysis helps understand local employment dynamics within labor markets. The analysis drills down to learn more about industries and local workforces and reveals pertinent and applicable information.

Biotech Talent: A Geo-Workforce Analysis

For targeting and recruiting biotech talent, below are the results of an analysis of the pharmaceutical and medicine manufacturing (biotech) industry and two geographical workforces show several critical things as follows:

The geo-workforce indicator shows that engineers account for approximately 3 percent of all workers employed in this industry. For life scientists, it is nearly 7 percent - while workers in sales and related activities represent 3 percent. Management accounts for 9.3 percent of this workforce.

In addition, 15.5% of all biomedical engineers employed in the United States work in pharmaceutical and medicine manufacturing, with a high workforce count of this engineering talent in both Middlesex (MA) and Los Angeles (CA) counties...
