President Barack Obama names: Wilma B. Liebman, a member of the National Labor Relations Board, as the new chairwoman of the labor agency. Liebman has served on the board since Nov. 14, 1997. First appointed by President Clinton, she is now serving her third term, which will expire on Aug. 27, 2011; Stuart J. Ishimaru as acting chairman and Christine M. Griffin as acting vice chairwoman of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Ishimaru, whose term expires on July 1, 2012, has been a commissioner since November 2003. He was confirmed by the U.S. Senate for a second term at the EEOC in December 2007. Griffin was sworn in as an EEOC commissioner on Jan. 3, 2006, to serve the remainder of a five-year term expiring July 1, 2009.
