Here are the top job banks as selected by About.com, along with a brief description.
CareerBuilder
CareerBuilder is among the top job sites with over 400,000 job postings and 9 million resumes. CareerBuilder has partnered with Gannett, Knight Ridder, Tribune, and other newspapers to provide local, as well as national, job listings. CareerBuilder is an excellent source of local job listings.
CoolWorks
If you're interested in a seasonal job, start your search with CoolWorks. CoolWorks lists thousands of summer and seasonal jobs. There's a free weekly email newsletter and the opportunity to sign-up for a free email account to use for your job search.
Craig's List
There's nothing fancy or significantly searchable at Craig's List, but, that doesn't matter. The simple list of "real" jobs works. Click on the city that interests you and review the list of job openings.
Jobfox
Jobfox matches job seekers with employers, provides a professional web page for personal branding, and has a selection of tools, including text messaging, resume tracking, and Instant Messaging (IM) to manage your job search.
Indeed.com
Indeed includes job listings from over 500 web sites including major job boards, top newspapers, as well as hundreds of associations and company career pages. Advanced search options are also available, including searching by company name, job title, or maximum commuting distance.
LinkedIn
LinkedIn is the top career networking site and an excellent way to connect with people who can help with your job search and/or who work at a company you're interested in. In addition, LinkedIn has a Jobs section where you can search for positions by keyword and location, or use the Advanced Search option to search for listings by even more specific criteria.
Monster / MonsterTRAK
From a numbers perspective, Monster continues to be the top job board site with over 200,000 member companies and 61 million job seeker accounts. Positions range from hourly local jobs to professional positions in just about every career field. MonsterTRAK is the version of the Monster job board specifically for college students and recent graduates.
SimplyHired
SimplyHired searches thousands of job boards, classifieds, and company sites. Advanced search options include type of job, type of company, keyword, location, and the date the job was posted.
SnagAJob.com
SnagAJob lists only hourly and part-time jobs, so, if you're not looking for a full-time job, it's an excellent site to use for job searching. You can search the job listings by zip code and sign-up to receive new job postings via email.
Yahoo! Hot Jobs
In addition to job postings, registered HotJobs users can get search results automatically delivered by email, block employers from seeing their resume, create and save cover letters, and save job search results.
