SourceCon 2007
(August 13, 2007)
There's a lot going on in Atlanta in September. The
Recruiting Roadshow comes to town on the 25th at the Success Center
(Georgia Tech). Designed for the local networks in Atlanta, the Roadshow
is an
experimental gathering with a deep focus on networking.
Earlier in the month, on the 11th through
the 13th, Sourcecon 2007 takes
center stage. The event is dedicated to the proposition that sourcing is
different from and more important than Recruiting because labor supply
exceeds demand:
Recruiting is done is done in some
form by everyone; good and bad; but true sourcing is done by few,
and done well by fewer. (Sourcecon
2007)
The list of speakers includes a
fantastic group of seasoned researchers and sourcers.
Shally (of course),
ElDave Mendoza (obviously),
the Mighty Jim Stroud (as EmCee),
AmyBeth Hale (naturally),
Susan Burns (with great synchronicity), Marc Hutto from ExecuQuest,
Glen Gutmacher
(as if you could do this without him),
Moises Lopez
(the Sourcerer), and a number of other key speakers. If you want hands
on expertise in finding the right people, this is the crowd who does it
every day for a living.
There's no doubt that sourcing has come
of age. With easy access to massive databases and a standing labor
shortage, finding the right people is the first part of getting them to
come to work for you. Sourcing, the ground work of Recruiting may well
be emerging as a discipline in its own right.
Here's
Shally's personal pitch on why you should attend SourceCon
