(June 29, 2007) Video is coming faster than the web did. Video resumes are promulgating faster than the systems required to manage them. It's very much like the early days of the web. Here are a few of the companies that have popped up to host and distribute them.

HotJobs provides video resume advice and Monster India has just introduced a hosting facility, YouTube shows 6500 returns on a search for resume. They seem to be added about one an hour.

It's reasonably clear that personal video communication is an approaching wave of change for HR departments. While text based resumes can be scanned and sorted and fielded data systems can produce quick and effective matches, video is a time consuming medium. It takes linear time to sift through video resumes. More so than any recent technology, the video resume will produce a wave of resistance in Recruiters and HR professionals

The expressed needs of this media savvy generation for individual attention will have its locus in the use of the video resume. Increasingly slick production values will be traded off against the studied simplicity of a resume that is so professional that it looks amateurish.

Hiring managers will want video resumes. There's something about live action that cements decisions. That will swamp the recruiting folks with the challenge of wading through years of video clips.

It will be so expensive that it will force offshoring of the sourcing process.
