David Manaster

(November 09, 2006) I hate to admit this. My respect for David Manaster seems to be growing with each passing day.

David is consistently demonstrating the kind of win-win thinking that builds industries. By embracing the new, he models the behavior that will continue to make his offerings relevant and important as the industry changes. He is an effective trend spotter. He, more than anyone else in his sort of role, is engaged in a conversation with the industry. He has taken the Gonzo Marketing thing to heart.

A set of unusual circumstances has us traveling to Amsterdam to join David's Global Expo on the 28th and 29th of November. Honestly, if he'd asked, we wouldn't have gone. Instead, a key partner in Europe gently and diplomatically arranged the liaison. Much to my surprise, the prospect gets more pleasant with each passing day.

The Amsterdam conference promises to be an interesting blend of new entrants (at least one of the Jasons will be there), old stalwarts (Kevin Wheeler, for example) and a host of interesting players (Marc Cendella from the Ladders). We're looking forward to it and hope to see you there. (Let me know if you're coming).

Usually, the passage of time creates deep cynicism in business leaders. It's clear from watching David that his optimism grows with his tenure. It's good to have this sort of leadership in our industry.
