Changes In The Bugler (May 05, 2005) - Donna Troisi, who edited and produced the Interbiznet Bugler for the past six years, has moved on to greener pastures. From its inception, (we acted on an idea offered by Tony Lee at CareerJournal) Donna formed and shaped the editorial policy and the real-time content of the newsletter. There would not be a bugler if it were not for Donna. It's inevitable that the Bugler will be different in Donna's absence. Those of you who follow the Bugler, have probably noticed the changes beginning. Donna's direct to-the-point prose and intent have been softened a bit. We've broadened the scope of coverage. The daily issues are simply longer. Today, the issues are global. The skills and talent shortages faced by US companies are being solved in different ways by operations in differing sections of the globe. For instance, last year, 14% of the executive search business in the US was for companies with headquarters in the Pacific Rim. New Zealand, on the other hand, is the single most aggressive government trying to solve the problem. Throughout the globe, the talent shortage (part skills, part bodies) is driven by rapidly declining birth rates and rapidly advancing technologies. The Chinese are competing directly for Western workers as their supplies run out. Eastern European workers filled 10% of last years openings in the UK. It's global, global, global. Our goal in the coming months and years is to produce a Bugler that provides industry players (customers, vendors and investors) an ongoing sense of the marketplace changes. We'll be covering advances in products, changes in organizations, news from around the world and legislation at local, national and international levels. Take a look at the Bugler while we make the changes. And, once again, thank you Donna.
