(May 03, 2005) - We've been reading Good Morning Silicon Valley since its launch in the early dot com days. Always a bellwether for the newspaper industry (sometimes years ahead), GMSV is a standard source for news about the comings and goings in the innovation capital of the world.

A wholly owned stepchild of the Knight Ridder empire, GMSV is an experimental playground. We've always seen GMSV as a prototype for a successful niche publication, the perfect setting for an employment marketplace. While some of its advertisers clearly view the setting as a great recruiting source, Knight Ridder has never really harnessed the opportunity.

Recently, the newsletter revisioned itself as a blog.

Basically, that changes the newsletter from one way to two way conversation. It enables RSS delivery of subsections of the newsletter. It creates a more sophisticated index by using the RSS categories. It adds permalinks to each article. It facilitates comments on an article by article basis.

This is the way the news is going. With each step in the process, nests for small communities of interest (niches) are built by the content. Currently, the market is early, small and open. It really is the time to start building the blog that serves your recruiting needs.
