Survey Sez
From Execunet: With the executive employment market well on its way to recovery, executives are beginning to question if the pace of job growth can sustain itself in the months ahead. “Executive job growth was very strong in the first quarter of 2005. While all signs point toward a continued recovery, it will be difficult to top the pace of this growth in the months ahead.”

From Jackson-Lewis: When asked to identify the most critical workplace issue facing the nation, the majority - 61% - named job security. 20% of the respondents said they have a policy regulating co-worker dating at their company, an increase of 7% from the 2002 survey.

Only half of US workers are satisfied with their jobs.

From MonsterTrak:

  • 60% of MonsterTRAK site visitors plan to move home with their parents after graduation.

  • 83% of 2005 college graduates expect at least one job offer upon graduation. Last year, 51% of college seniors did not expect a single offer upon graduation.

  • 80% of companies with 5,000 or more employees plan to hire 2005 graduates this spring/summer, while 90% of companies with 10,000 or more employees plan to hire 2005 graduates.

  • 75% of 2005 graduates feel prepared to enter the workforce; 59% have completed at least one internship.

  • 56% of employers expect an average starting salary over $30,000 for entry-level workers.

  • Between 2002 and 2012, more than 14 million job openings are projected to be filled by workers who have a bachelor’s or graduate degree and are entering an occupation for the first time.

  • 33% of 20-29 year olds are really happy with their career; 23% feel their job just pays the bills and 19% enjoy their job but it is not on the career path they desire.
