Carriere Online (February 24, 2005) - Our years of French failed us when we first looked at CarriereOnline .Thank goodness (maybe) for Google's translation capabilities. This machine translated version of CarriereOnline is a point of departure. As a word of warning, patience is required if you attempt to actually read the translation.
CarriereOnline appears to be the product we've been expecting to see in the
American markets. It's a set of blogs, organized by specialty, that allow employers/recruiters to target
audiences discretely:
The separate sites are not really blogs, per se. They don't include routinely changing material. They don't have permalinks or comment capacity. In fact, they are better understood as job boards with RSS distribution than as examples of blogs.
But, they are a definite start in the right direction and well ahead of contemporary domestic thinking. Meanwhile, Doug Miller is kicking up a storm on his
new blog. Thought leadership in our market has been sorely lacking for some time now. Doug's attempts to steer the conversation into new and better territory are well worth your attention. Today, he recounts a customer's experience with candidates who were better
prepared than the interviewers: the top candidates they were bringing in were so well prepared, that in many cases they were intimidating hiring managers with how much they knew about the company, its financial condition, its products strategies, and its warts. They were able to ask hard
questions about topics that in many cases the interviewing team and the hiring manager had no knowledge whatsoever. Here's to hoping that more of the players in our market will open up and participate in real time conversations about the market and its needs. As Doug points out, leadership requires a public demonstration, not just talk. Participate in the conversation. When you've done a great job of finding the top talent through creative sourcing, don't lose them because of a bad recruiting experience. Talenteering is selling--be ready, and have the whole team ready to handle objections. John
