London
Calling
(June 24, 2003) - The British market
continues to surprise. There are more (11 Million)
interactive TV installations, than
homes with PCs tied to the net. The historical strength of the third party
recruiting industry (you need these skills to successfully run an empire) has
led to a flowering of small shops and job boards.
We've taken a fancy to the
RecruitmentConsultant,
a small e-zine that covers news and techniques in the arena. The site offers an
interesting level of depth with regular coverage of the press release flow.
There are several items worth perusing:
We loved the following short piece:
Workers who continually complain about work may
have a similar condition to post-traumatic stress disorder, scientists in
Germany have claimed.
A two year research programme about workplace anxiety has identified an
illness which the scientists have dubbed post-traumatic embitterment disorder.
Symptoms of the condition include feelings of depression, aggression or
helplessness and sufferers are likely to take more days of sick and have
phobias about people and places linked to work.
Employees susceptible to the condition are likely to lead lives that revolve
around work and being passed over for promotion of feeling under-valued is
likely to aggravate the disorder.
People who focus on activities outside work such as hobbies and family are
much less likely to be affected.
