(July 03, 2002) - Although we were modestly entertained by the recent surge of marketing articles in HR publications, nothing beats the information that is readily available from a couple of our favorite long term web marketing experts.
Larry Chase's weekly email bulletin (Web Digest For Marketers) is worth a regular read. Each issue contains 15 'mercifully short' reviews of websites that are either useful resources or solid models of good marketing. This week's version, for example, contains reviews of sites devoted to finding marketing experts, search engine placement consultants (for traffic development), a place where 'advertising grunts' share their views on the industry, an agency database, PR, brand development, sloganeering and more. Larry has been chronicling the evolution of online marketing for nearly as long as we've been looking at the Human Capital space. You can rely on the newsletter to keep you current in the developments of the web as a marketing platform.
Ralph Wilson, on the other hand, devotes his weekly journal to very practical aspects of Marketing a web business. The content is not as lively as Chase's material but the good "Doctor" Wilson can be relied on for a great deal of practical marketing advice. The current issue covers a low-cost auto responder and a survey of email programs. The archives are a treasure trove of online marketing strategies and tactics. Like Larry, Ralph has been covering the field nearly as long as interbiznet.
While we are certain that you will find subscriptions to both newsletters useful, the fact that there is no central publication covering marketing in the Human Capital space is an interesting indicator. While marketing techniques are rapidly penetrating our universe, no one has decided to cover it as of yet. It's an interesting and obvious opportunity.
