Obvious Opportunity

Most Resume Databases are tired old
repositories of aging crap. Given the degree to which maintenance is ignored
(usually, the justification is that old material is kept for historical
reasons), the contents are useful in a proportion that diminishes monthly. That
is, 12 months after installation, 1/12 of the material is less than 30 days old.
By month 20 of ownership, less than 5% of the data is fresh.
There are readily available databases that can be
used to update addresses and phone numbers. The US Post Office provides this
service to Direct Marketers. We assume that they would happily acquire
additional customers.
So, the opportunity is simple. A company can be
easily developed (at high margins) to take old databases and refresh them with
updates and supplemental information. It would be easy for a centralized
supplier to cross reference standardized alimni lists, professional assoiciation
membership rosters and so on.
