Applicant Tracking Systems (July 16, 2001) We are not the Electronic Recruiting Exchange. When David Manaster started his competitive organization, we asked him to change the name so that there wouldn't be confusion in the marketplace. Of course, he wanted the confusion and said, in a note, that there wouldn't be any. So, the market evolved and we became jovial competitors. The market is roomy and anyone who confuses our two operations is just learning the terrain. The same sort of brand confusion exists in other arenas. Clearly, however, the experience and effectiveness of the competitors is varied enough to satisfy our broad audiences. If there's any confusion in your mind, we're the more established and grumpier of the two. We we're the earliest sponsors of ERE! There's a great deal of research to be done in our universe. We don't sell other peoples material; we're not a seven-eleven. We look at market trends and forecast their evolution. There are other aspects of the game that require detailed analysis. David and his team (who we think of as irritating younger siblings) have delivered a profoundly useful study. It compares the experiences of customers in the Applicant Tracking Systems marketplace and confirms many of our less scientific views. The following table indicates the rankings of the 9 major ATS providers (They all service larger companies.) Scores are from 1 (highest) to 9 (lowest) unless there was a tie. Its worth mulling over the list (and, you could copy and paste it directly into an Excel spreadsheet). Among the things we noticed immediately was the fact that usability has no immediate impact on overall customer satisfaction. Overall functionality is much more important and likely to lead to a high level of customer satisfaction. Given equal functionality, customer support seems to be the next most important item. One final note. The scores for customer satisfaction take a marked dip between the number 2 and number three players. Both Recruitsoft and Rezlogic scored solidly above BrassRing who came in third. Lest we destroy any remaining goodwill with our sibling, the full report can be purchased at http://www.erexchange.com/ats2001/
