Adzuna, a popular job search engine in the UK, has secured a £300k seed investment from Passion Capital. Current or former executives from eBay, Skype, Adjug, BT and Virgin have also reportedly invested in the job site.

CareerBuilder has entered into a definitive agreement under which CareerBuilder will acquire JobScout24, a major job board in Germany with more than 3.36 million users and more than 250,000 jobs. Combining the reach and resources of both companies will solidify CareerBuilder’s position as one of the top three online recruitment players in Germany and further its global expansion.

“Protect, Respect and Remedy” Framework to Be Cornerstone of APP Sustainability Program

Asia Pulp & Paper Group (APP) is initiating its first-ever comprehensive human rights audit across the company’s Indonesian operations, heeding the United Nations call for the global protection of human rights by businesses around the world.

In June, the United Nations Human Rights Council endorsed for the first time a set of guiding principles for business on human rights performance using the “protect, respect and remedy” framework. APP has committed itself to adopting this framework in assessing and addressing human rights policies throughout its operations.

Small business owners are invited to join the UIC Family Business Council for Hire the Best, Fire the Rest Thursday, October 6th at Chicago’s John G. Shedd Aquarium.

Mary Deibert, President of management consulting firm Kiara, will lead a panel of recruitment professionals on hiring the right candidates, retaining your organization’s top talent, and how to legally terminate underperforming employees.

The program will begin at 5:15 pm to be followed by cocktails and dinner next to the Aquarium’s Caribbean Reef. Tickets are $150 and must be purchased online in advance of the event.
