Deutsch Welle reports that German unemployment rate rose to 8.5% in February, up 0.2% from a month earlier; the number of unemployed workers rose by 63,000 in February, topping 3.5 million. This decline in confidence was driven by a shift from "very confident and confident" to "somewhat confident," indicating that new assignments have slowed as companies put hiring plans on hold.
