Simply Hired launches international job search websites in Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and India. The sites include more than1.5 million job listings aggregated from the leading job boards, content websites, newspapers, organizations and company career pages from these four countries.
Kenexa, a global provider of talent management and retention solutions, announced its inclusion on the Software Magazine's Software 500 ranking of the world's largest software and service providers. Kenexa was ranked No. 158, moving up from its previously held position of No. 278 in 2007, with software revenue of $181.9 million.
The Illinois State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management (ISC-SHRM) launches WOW! Wellness in Our Workplace, a new online resource designed to assist human resources professionals in the development and implementation of wellness programs in the workplace. Developed by ISC-SHRM with the support of an unrestricted educational grant from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, WOW! serves as a one-stop clearinghouse for worksite wellness and provides the latest information on workplace wellness programs, tips and tools for planning and implementing and the latest wellness news.
Austin American Statesmen reports that four former managers in Dell Inc.'s human resources group have sued the company in Federal Court, claiming that the company discriminates against women and older workers. In the complaint, filed Wednesday in Federal District Court in San Francisco, the four women accuse Dell of paying female workers less than their male counterparts and passing over women for promotions in favor of less-qualified men. The suit also claims that Dell's layoffs over the past 18 months targeted a disproportionate number of workers more than 40 years old.
Glassdoor.com, online career and workplace community, has secured $6.5 million in Series B funding. The round was led by Sutter Hill Ventures and included a follow-on investment from existing investor Benchmark Capital. With this round, Jim White, managing director of Sutter Hill Ventures, assumes a new seat on the Glassdoor board of directors.
Medzilla reports that strong growth continues in the health care field, with an average of 30,000 jobs created each month. Even with layoff announcements from more than a dozen employers in health care, employment continued to increase in September, gaining 17,000 jobs overall.
Harris, Rothenberg International (HRI) opens its economic resource guide free of charge to the general public. The guide, Coping with Economic Uncertainty specifically addresses what precautions to take in an economic downturn and shares expert advice on ways to manage stress in a difficult financial environment. It also introduces topics such as foreclosure prevention and managing credit and debt. Also, HRI has produced two handbooks on economic uncertainties: one designed for employees, the other for managers. The employee resource goes into detail about the services Employee Assistance Programs offer. The handbook for supervisors includes reports of how to manage in uncertain times and how to help employees deal with change.
