Producer Price Indexes: August 2008. The Producer Price Index
for Finished Goods declined 0.9 percent in August, seasonally adjusted, the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department
of Labor reported. This decrease followed advances of 1.2 percent in July and 1.8 percent in June. At the earlier stages of
processing, prices received by manufacturers of intermediate goods fell 1.0 percent in August after rising 2.7 percent in the
prior month, and the crude goods index dropped 11.9 percent following a 4.2-percent increase in July. Leading the downturn in
prices for finished goods, the index for energy goods fell 4.6 percent in August after climbing 3.1 percent in July. Prices
for goods other than foods and energy advanced 0.2 percent following a 0.7-percent rise in the previous month. The index for
consumer foods increased 0.3 percent in August, the same rate as in July.
Job Openings and labor Turnover: July 2008. On the last
business day of July, there were 3.4 million job openings in the United States, and the job openings rate was 2.4 percent,
according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor. The job openings rate and total separations
rate were little changed in July, while the hires rate decreased slightly. This release includes estimates of the number and
rate of job openings, hires, and separations for the total nonfarm sector by industry and geographic region.

job seekers, who want to know exactly where to find the jobs. The HotJobs 100 is a list of the top 100 companies across all
industries that are currently hiring. The inaugural HotJobs 100 list reaches across a variety of companies, including popular
retailers Macy's and RadioShack. The list will be updated on a quarterly basis.

Colorado State Rep. Christine Scanlan (D-Summit County) carried SB 114, better known as the 2008 Professional Employer

In Memoriam
Klaus J. Jacobs 71, a German-born billionaire entrepreneur, who built the world's leading chocolate
seller, Barry Callebaut, and temporary staffing firm, Adecco, died of cancer Thursday at
his home in Kuesnacht, Switzerland.
Jacobs purchased the Swiss company Adia Personnel Services in 1992 and lead its emergence as a global Fortune 500
company after a merger with the French firm Ecco four years later.
