Second-quarter jobs losses in the real estate finance sector fell by more than half from the prior quarter and the prior year, according to mortgage employment data tracked by
MortgageDaily. From April 1 to June 30, there were 5,889 mortgage-related layoffs tracked. During that same period, 100 jobs were added, bringing the net job loss to 5,789. Government data indicate that mortgage employment has gone from 360,700 on March 31, 2008, to 357,800 as of May 31, 2008.
Online job site CareerBuilder.com acquires Lesjeudis.com, an independent online recruitment company in France. Founded in 1997, Lesjeudis operates six recruitment websites and holds recruitment job fairs throughout France. Upon acquisition, Lesjeudis will retain its name. Cedric Barbier, CEO of Lesjeudis, will continue to lead the company.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
