Reveille & Hyperbole Productivity and Costs Fourth Quarter and
Annual Averages, 2007 Revised. The Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S.
Department of Labor reported revised fourth-quarter seasonally-adjusted annual rates of
productivity change--as measured by output per hour of all persons--and revised changes
for calendar year 2007. Percent changes in business and nonfarm business productivity
are: Fourth quarter: Business sector 1.0. Non-farm sector 1.9 Annual averages 2206-2007:
Business sector 1.9. Non-farm sector 1.8.
Newly launched know-who.com is
hoping to take online recruitment a stage further. The site, pays people who refer
successful candidates, while offering recruiters one centralized service backed up by
clever algorithms that will even rank the suitability of candidates. Co-founders Jody
Hunt and Daniel Halstead started working on the site in May last year and employ five
staff at their base in Waterloo, London.
Monster and iHispano announced an alliance in which Monster's online
recruitment expertise and services will be available via iHispano, an online career
resource for Hispanic and bilingual professionals.
The Rosen Group, a human resources recruiting
firm, finished 2007 with a net revenue of $10.3 million-an increase of 11% from 2006. The
Rosen Group specializes exclusively in the placement of human resources professionals,
both on a contract and a permanent basis.
TowerHunter Executive Search has formed an
exclusive, international alliance to create a global presence with local roots. Europe's
Herbold Fischer Associates will bring new
opportunities for TowerHunter's American clients.
Survey Says Chief financial officers (CFOs)
expect hiring activity in accounting and finance to continue growing in the second
quarter, although at a more moderate pace, according to the Robert Half International Financial Hiring Index. Nine
percent of CFOs interviewed said they plan to add full-time professionals and 5 percent
anticipate staff reductions. The net 4-percent increase is down two points from the
first-quarter forecast. The majority of respondents, 85 percent, anticipate no change in
personnel levels. Of those executives expecting to hire, approximately two in five (41
percent) attributed the demand to business growth, up 11 points from the first-quarter
Financial Hiring Index. Rising workloads was cited as the primary reason by 34 percent of
respondents.
The Robert Half Technology IT Hiring Index
finds that a net 12 percent of chief information officers (CIOs) in the Washington, D.C.,
area expect to hire information technology (IT) professionals in the second quarter of
2008. Fourteen percent of executives surveyed plan to add staff during the quarter and 2
percent anticipate reductions in personnel. The majority of respondents, 76 percent,
foresee no change in second-quarter hiring.
