Talent management software provider Workstream will merge with the operating holding company of Empagio, a provider of payroll and human resources software. Pursuant to the merger agreement, Empagio will own 75% and Workstream will own 25% of the combined entity on a fully diluted basis. The agreement contains a holdback provision that will require Empagio to maintain cash flow targets for the 1-year period following the closing or Empagio's equity holders will return up to 20% of the shares issued. Seth Bernstein, Chief Executive Officer of Empagio, will become a 60% majority shareholder of the company and will be subject to a lock-up agreement for a period of 18 months following the closing.

GigTide.com continues to implement new upgrades and features as registered users steadily increase. In the past month, the Online Resume Builder reports that the number of resumes created on their site has nearly doubled and by the end of February, it expects to serve more than 1,000 users since its launch in December 2007. The most exciting upgrade to date features enhanced functionality applied to each of the available resume templates, which allows customers to include social media elements.

ZoomInfo, an online business information search engine, creates four distinct business units focused on high-growth markets -- recruiting, sales intelligence, search and bizographic ad targeting. The recruiting business unit will focus on growing the overall strategy, product development, management and marketing of ZoomInfo's flagship product, PowerSearch. Tad Goltra takes on the position of vice president and general manager of the recruiting business unit.

SonicOnboard2, from Cytiva Software, will be available later this month. This new version will provide clients with a secure employee onboarding portal where new hires can log in and complete all of their onboarding tasks online. The Seattle Times reports that the U.S. work force continues to move to green-collar jobs.

Survey Says
The results of a recent 2007 Job Description Survey, college students and recent grads agreed that companies do not do a good job communicating key information in their job descriptions. Experience.com polled jobseekers about job descriptions in an effort to help organizations better communicate with Gen Y candidates. Respondents felt that the following decision making elements were poorly communicated (rated fair to poor): reputation and ethics (54%), career advancement possibilities (55%) and professional training opportunities (64%).

Workplace stress is the most frequently cited reason U.S. employees consider leaving their jobs. While employers acknowledge that stress is affecting business performance, few are taking steps to address it, according to two surveys by Watson Wyatt Worldwide, a leading global consulting firm.
