Job Openings and Labor Turnover: December 2007. On the last business day of December, there were 4.0 million job openings in the United States, and the job openings rate was 2.8 percent. The job openings and hires rates were essentially unchanged in December. The separations rate fell to 3.1 percent in December. This release includes estimates of the number and rate of job openings, hires, and separations for the total nonfarm sector by industry
and geographic region. Although the month-to-month changes in job openings, hires, and turnover data are often small, some over-the-year changes are significant. From December 2006 to December 2007, the job openings, hires, quits, and total separations rates all fell significantly for both the total nonfarm and total private sectors.
Recruiting firm LeafsOfTalent.com reports it has created the first ever employer grading software that allow employees the ability to rate their employers on a circular platform.

TeamStaff, Inc., a provider of healthcare and administrative staffing services, is changing the name of its government staffing division, RS Staffing Services, Inc., to TeamStaff Government Solutions (dba TeamStaff GS).
In 2007, the CareerBuilder network attracted an average of more than 21 million unique visitors per month in the U.S., 10 million more than its largest competitor, according to comScore Media Metrix data. It has further strengthened its traffic lead in the industry and set a new record for the careers traffic category in the U.S. with 25.5 million unique visitors coming to the CareerBuilder Network in the month of January.
CNNMoney reports that Silicon Valley recruiters have quickly ramped up their efforts to lure software developers, project managers and key executives away from Yahoo Inc. (YHOO) in the wake of Microsoft Corp.'s (MSFT) $44.6 billion offer to buy the struggling Internet giant. Microsoft's ability to retain Yahoo staff has been a key concern among Wall Street analysts. Comments from recruiters suggest that Yahoo employees and other Silicon Valley companies already starved for talent aren't waiting around for Microsoft to win over Yahoo's management and board.
