Survey Says:
A recent Deloitte Consulting survey of 150 companies, finds that 85 percent said they were revamping their HR functions, but were still not making it an integral part of the company's business strategy.
According to the survey: "Revamping HR is still mostly about savings, systems and processes, despite demands from the C-suite for HR function to support overall business objectives to meet challenges of an increasingly competitive business environment." Consultants often complain that no change can be made without the active support of the CEO, but in this case the CEOs are eager to see the change, but HR is dragging its feet.
"There is a definite push from the CEOs - they want HR to play a more assertive role. But we are not seeing this at HR level - they are misinterpreting the message from the CEO. HR needs help to interpret what the CEO wants."
