Sourcing
With a clear picture of the marketplace you are trying to work, sourcing becomes a different beast.  Rather than searching for magic formulas to discover hidden treasures, the search begins with knowing what to look for and where to find it. While this type of sourcing is somewhat less glamorous than fancy internet hunts, it is much more likely to produce the desired results. , (Read more.)

Survey Says:
Hays Identifies Job Hotspots

Over one in two employers report a rise in their permanent staff levels, according to a survey conducted as part of the annual Hays Salary Survey.

Of over 1,700 responses, 58 percent of employers reported increasing their permanent staff levels over the past 12 months, while 11 percent reported a decrease and 31 percent said their permanent staff levels remained the same.

Engineering jobs saw the highest increase, with 68 per cent of employers increasing their staff levels in this technical area. This was followed by distribution (where 67% of employers increased permanent staff levels), then operations and sales & marketing (62%) and IT (60%).

"Given the ongoing boom for engineers, it shouldn't be a surprise that the employment of engineering skills rose so significantly," said Darren Buchanan, Director of specialist recruiter Hays.

The survey also shows that temporary workers are a highly utilised resource, with 66 per cent of employers using temporary or contract staff through a recruitment agency and 61 percent employing part-time staff.

Looking forward, employment expectations remain positive, with 52 per cent of employers expected to increase their permanent staff levels over the next 12 months. "Again the most confidence is coming from the engineering industry, where 75 per cent of employers expect to increase their staff levels in this discipline. This is followed by operations (64%) and distribution (62%).

"These findings suggest the recruitment market remains very healthy," said Darren. "Business confidence is strong, employers are looking to increase permanent staff levels and the use of contractors is high. Employers are not letting the skills shortage stop them from recruiting, with both employers and recruitment agencies facing the challenge head-on by developing new and innovative attraction strategies to source the skills they need," he said.

Deep Release:
Leaders Learn How To Create Long-Lasting Networks and Strong Relationships

Award-Winning Executive Coach Sylva Leduc Teaches Women How to REALLY Network at the 2007 Arizona Women's Leadership Forum

Award-winning executive coach Sylva Leduc will speak November 2, 2007 at the Arizona Women's Leadership Forum in Chandler, giving attendees the opportunity to learn how to network – and how to do it right.

The Forum will challenge individuals to view leadership in powerful new ways. Through the event's activities and resources, leaders are empowered to lead with passion, act as mentors to others and make a difference in their businesses, their communities and their lives (http://www.azleadersforum.com).

And who better to give advice than Sylva Leduc, a veteran leadership coach with years of experience in the field? In her practical, pragmatic and powerful presentation, "What is the Net Worth of Your Network?" Leduc will cover what it really takes to network effectively, regardless of whether you're a full-blown extrovert, a "networking challenged" introvert, or somewhere in between. She will teach women how to develop plans that will create strong impressions and lasting relationships to strengthen networks over time.

"While it seems Speed Networking has received a lot of press lately, is it effective for executives and other business professionals who want to create long-lasting relationships? Is gathering a fistful of business cards enough to make you memorable and stand out in the crowd?" Leduc said.

She doesn't think so, which is why ''What is the Net Worth of Your Network'' will give leaders the tools they need to become more effective in cultivating productive relationships and communication.

Featured presenters at the Arizona Women's Leadership Forum include Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano and Dial Corporation President Tracy Vanbibber, as well as Susan Packard, co-founder and COO of HGTV and president of Scripps Networks New Ventures, John Gray, author of ''Men are From Mars, Women are From Venus,'' and Jackie Speier, author of ''This is Not the Life I Ordered.''

The November 2 event is this year's Annual Fall Symposium, a daylong conference the creators of the Arizona Women's Leadership Forum designed to bring distinguished leaders and experts together to share information and build relationships. Throughout the year, the Forum will feature quarterly "conversations" that provide dynamic, interactive informal question-and-answer sessions between leaders and experts. The Forum's training and coaching programs help business, government and nonprofit executives and professionals develop their full leadership potential. It also is developing programs to encourage girls and young women to successfully take on leadership challenges. Partners include Ernst and Young, The Dial Corporation and Banner Health.

Leduc, a certified Executive Coach, has devoted the past 17 years to coaching executives to excel as leaders. She founded SageLeaders.com, which brings together a team of seasoned coaches who provide consistent coaching programs for managers, leaders and executives for their professional development, goal attainment and employee retention. Also, she co-authored, ''Women's Work: Choice, Chance or Socialization?'' and is on the faculty of the College of Executive Coaching. She earned the Prism Award from the Seattle Chapter of the International Coach Federation for her work with Child Care Resources.

To become a better networker, send an e-mail to email protected from spam bots. Leduc will send back a personal reply and a complete copy of her November 2 presentation.

The 2007 Arizona Women's Leadership Forum Fall Symposium takes place from 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort and Spa in Phoenix/Chandler.

Sylva Leduc is the owner and founder of SageLeaders.com, a leadership development coaching company with offices in Phoenix, Arizona and Seattle, Washington. The company incorporates executive coaching, leadership programs and strategic planning.
