The New Trovix
Some time ago, I visited the Trovix
offices down in the
googleplex. I was
impressed
and breathy.
What separates them from their peers
is the technology in the search engine process. The Trovix product
mines resume data more thoroughly than anything we've ever seen. It
has the capacity to intuit a skill set from a larger acronym. It
learns. It adopts the preferences of its users. It is reputed to be
able to learn nuanced differences of a company's culture. (interbiznet

Survey Says:
Monster released the results of a survey regarding knowledge retention. As you know, much has been written about the pending worker shortage due to Baby Boomer retirements; however, less focus has been placed on the associated threat of losing those workers' organizational knowledge.
The survey and its corresponding report, titled "Building and Securing an Organizational Brain Trust in an Age of Brain Drain," reveals that U.S. employers largely recognize they face an imminent worker shortage due to Baby Boomer retirements; however, few have a formal strategy in place to manage and retain worker knowledge. Key findings:
- Only 12 percent of human resource managers report knowledge retention as a high priority within their organizations, despite the fact that one-third estimate 20 percent or more of their current workforce will be eligible for retirement over the next several years.
- Only 23 percent of firms report having a formal method to actually identify the knowledge that needs to be protected and retained.
- 43 percent of respondents cite the ability to measure the ROI and effectiveness of a knowledge retention program as a chief stumbling block to implementing a formal strategy.
The report also provides concrete steps organizations can take to help mitigate the affects of "brain drain."
