Workforce Woes: The Demographic Challenge
At the heart of the challenge of finding people to join your high quality workforce is a great deal of demographic upheaval. Global population, which doubled twice in the past century will only grow by 50% in the next century. That's a slowdown to less than 1/4 of the old growth rate. It already feels like someone slammed on the brakes.

This happens to companies, families and most forms of human organization. Extraordinary growth rates are unusual. They happen in adolescence and are the precursors to the less disruptive growth rates of adulthood.  (Read More)

Deep Release:
Cytiva Software Inc., a leading provider of on-demand talent management and recruiting software solutions, announced today the opening of new offices in Petaluma, California.

Petaluma became the de facto birthplace of employee performance management software after Petaluma software developer KnowledgePoint launched what is arguably the first commercial application for evaluating and tracking employee performance in 1994. After years of success at the leading edge of human resource management software, KnowledgePoint was sold in 2004 and has subsequently been absorbed into another corporation.

But for a company like Cytiva, who recently announced its intention to add performance management software to its suite of talent management software solutions, a location like Petaluma represents fertile ground for acquiring the kind of talent needed to develop future generations of employee performance management applications.

This practice of "going where the talent is" is nothing new to Cytiva and may be a key component in their rapid growth. In addition to the new Petaluma location, Cytiva has offices in Vancouver, B.C., Emeryville , Ca. and sales offices across the country. The company has more than doubled in size in the last year and it attributes much of its success to its virtual culture and willingness to accommodate talented employees.

"When I tell our clients that their employees are their main competitive advantage, I truly believe it," said Jason Moreau, CEO of Cytiva. "When we began to develop a core group of individuals in the Petaluma area that could help us deliver world class talent management applications, better and faster than our competition, opening an office there became an easy decision."

Moreau credits Cytiva's virtual infrastructure with making it easy to manage a dispersed, fast growing enterprise. From a virtual PBX to Internet-based, on-demand customer relationship management tools to their online meeting infrastructure, Cytiva has been built from the ground up as a virtual company.

"Our SonicRecruit on-demand applicant tracking software provides companies with anywhere, anytime access to world-class talent acquisition technology," says Moreau. "We use this same anywhere, anytime philosophy in our own work culture to gain a huge recruiting and performance advantage."

The new offices are located at 850 Petaluma Blvd. North, Petaluma, CA 94954.

PeopleFilter Webcast Participants Left Questioning Current Hiring Processes -PeopleFilter's Hospitality Industry Hiring Event Leads Attendees to Consider Examining Recruiting Processes and Technology-

PeopleFilter Technology, developers of the PeopleFilter applicant tracking system (ATS), today revealed compelling trends identified during its recent Webcast on reducing hiring risk while winning the race for talent in the hospitality industry.

Held on June 21, 2007, Webcast presenters included PeopleFilter President and Chief Operating Officer, Kevin Harrison and David Morrison, a leading employment law litigator from Goldberg Kohn. During the event, participants were asked to respond to several polls. At the onset of the session, only thirty-three percent of the attendees felt their organizations' current selection processes might be at risk due to unclear, undocumented or inconsistent hiring processes. A similar poll was taken post-session where an overwhelming majority, upwards of eighty percent of all attendees, agreed that based on the information shared today, they felt the need to review or enhance their organization's current selection processes and/or technology.

Rich Post, PeopleFilter's Hospitality Practice Leader, observed, "Today's hiring environment - especially in the hospitality industry - is fraught with pitfalls. Technology helps these decentralized recruiting environments recruit in a more standardized, consistent manner. Plus, the reporting capabilities inherent in hiring technologies can mitigate risk and give busy properties readily available audit preparedness, further discouraging rogue, disparate hiring practices."

Post continued, "We weren't surprised by the survey results from our webcast. Properties need to build candidate pipelines to help them improve time-to-hire and technology facilitates the ability to get to the best candidates, quickly. Filled positions and well-matched employees-to-jobs translates into better guest experiences and that is critical in the hospitality industry."

A replay of this Webcast is available.
