Abolish manditory retirement
Under Appeal
Freedom 65. It's an expression which may soon become as popular to the workers of B.C. as freedom 55, particularly for workers facing mandatory retirement at age 65. The provincial government is apparently considering legislative changes that would abolish mandatory retirement at age 65.
It's a move I heartily endorse. I'm not advocating that workers be required to continue punching the time clock past 65 years of age, only that they have the legal option to remain working if they choose to do so. After all, politicians and most professionals aren't forced to retire at age 65. The Canadian Senate is packed with seniors beyond 65, while the mandatory retirement age for judges of the Supreme Court of Canada is 75.

India:
All clear ahead Indian IT services vendors see no slackening of pace on the US tech
highway for now, despite talk of a possible slowdown or the emerging political scenario.
At this point of time, almost all the top-tier vendors are chasing over a dozen deals on an average, with sizes in the $50- 100 million range.
There's so much fog on the windscreen that driving is very tough." So said Infosys Technologies' Chairman and CEO, N.R. Narayana Murthy, announcing quarterly results post-9/11 in 2001, when the downturn had set in, in the US, the largest IT market.
Five years later, when concerns are being voiced in several quarters over a possible economic slowdown in the US, the IT services vendors in India are sounding pretty upbeat about the future outlook as they continue to clock growth rates in the 30-50 per cent range.
The language used by IT managements in recent post-earnings calls has been full of optimism, in sharp contrast to the apprehensive and pessimistic comments one heard half-a-decade ago.
