Recruiters Face New Challenges With Their Search Marketing Strategy
Recruitment search marketing specialists SiteVisibility have published a white
paper titled ‘Recruiter Search Marketing Strategy'. The paper examines the key
challenges and opportunities that both recruiters and job board owners are
likely to face when developing their search marketing strategy in the Web 2.0
era. The UK recruitment sector leads the market in terms of online ad spend with
over £102 million pounds spent in the first half of 2006 (compared to £94
million in the first half of 2005). Of that £102m, Pay-Per-Click advertising (PPC)
(also known as ‘Paid Search') accounted for 58% of all money spent on online
advertising. However, this growth in PPC advertising is also driving up the cost
per click (CPC) for competitive job related search phrases, which means that
search engine optimisation (the process of improving your website's position in
the natural or free results) is increasingly becoming a key part of the
recruiters' online marketing mix. (Onrec)
EXCLUSIVE: Optimism among recruiters grows
The increasing rate of unemployment across the UK
has failed to dampen the optimism of recruitment
firms, with the latest figures revealing a growing
market and widespread expansion plans. A new report
has found the vast majority of recruiters plan to
grow their business in the next 12 months and are
largely confident about the immediate future of the
sector as a whole. (Recruiter)
Something new is happening in the world of
online recruitment…
A pioneering and unique web site has just been
launched into the recruitment market, catering
exclusively for vacancies. vacancyinformer.com is a
brand new concept founded by experienced recruiter
Grant Paskins and designed and developed by web
partners HotLizard, the experts in online
recruitment. With hundreds of job boards in the UK
having an emphasis on candidates,
vacancyinformer.com is the only site serving the
vacancy side of the recruitment process. (Onrec)
Wotservicejob launched
Wotservicejob.com is a newly launched job board for
the UK contract service sector. The website covers
the waste management and recycling, building
services, washroom, cleaning, courier services,
facilities services, interior plants and
landscaping, linen, garment and floor care rental,
pest control and security. (Recruiter)
US:
Scientists leaving over new job limits
Nearly 40 percent of the scientists conducting hands-on research at the National
Institutes of Health say they are looking for other jobs or are considering
doing so to escape new ethics rules that have curtailed their opportunity to
earn outside income. Most scientists say the ethics crackdown is too severe, and
nearly three-quarters of them believe it will hinder the government's ability to
attract and keep medical researchers, according to a survey commissioned by the
government's premier medical research agency. The tightened rules were put in
place last year after NIH found dozens of scientists had run afoul of existing
restrictions on private consulting deals that had enriched them with money from
drug and biotechnology companies. (Associated

Fair allowed 450 job seekers to shake hands with 26 employers
Held at Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites in
Bolingbrook, the event was fourth in a string of job
fairs Suburban Chicago Newspapers began sponsoring a
year ago.
A fair was held in June at the same location, and
two took place in October and February in Aurora.
The company hosts the job fairs as a community
service and as a way to partner with clients, said
Ed Hochevar, recruitment advertising sales manager.

Corporate Hypocrisy
For those of you keeping track, I seem to have given
up on my old plan to pursue "lifetime student
status" in favor of "I want money, a lot of it, and
right now." In other words, grad school applications
seem more difficult and much less rewarding than
dropping résumés and chatting with recruiters.
However, I've been spending a great deal of time
polishing the ol' résumé, tailoring cover letters,
and crafting thank you letters just like the people
in career services say we're supposed to. We're
supposed to look professional. Otherwise kiss high
incomes and fancy cars goodbye and say hello to
welfare, crack, and being a babydaddy (again, just
quoting career services here). (Nobrainer's

New Tools Emerge For Frazzled Recruiters
The Web seems like a corporate recruiter's dream
come true. Post a help-wanted ad on some job boards,
and candidates email you their resumes . Or you can
quickly peruse resumes that are already there,
looking for a good match. The reality is much less
ideal. Because posting a resume is so easy,
recruiters often end up with hundreds of applicants
for an open position. So, very often, it takes
longer than ever to fill jobs. Now companies are
trying out new tools that promise to do a better job
of matching candidates with the right position. Some
companies use services that analyze online resumes
and rank them by how well they meet job
requirements. Other companies are turning to
social-networking sites to locate "passive"
job-seekers -- those who might be willing to jump to
a new position but aren't actively looking. (Wall

Deep Release:
ERC Dataplus, a leading Human
Resource Technology company, introduced the
Selectech® Workforce Management: Hospitality. In
addition to the functionality found in other talent
or applicant management systems, ERC's Selectech®
Workforce Management: Hospitality has been specially
configured for hotels and hotel property management
companies.
Included in the standard
implementation are the following:
• o Over 200 job descriptions
o Over 300 pre-qualification
questions
o New hire forms (NDA, W-4,
W-5, I-9, etc.)
• Employment application templates with "release"
clauses
• Communication templates
• • The following are optional
add-ons:
• Job-specific assessments
• On-boarding steps (integration with background
screening, HRIS)
• FirstWord® New Hire and LastWord® Exit Surveys
• Development Planning and Performance Management
• Additionally, hotels and hotel
management companies can take advantage of ERC's
newly announced Pay Per ApplicantSM Automated Job
Posting Alliance With Hoteljobs.com. This new
program represents a major cost breakthrough for
hospitality companies using job boards to bring
candidates to employers. All postings are free, with
the only cost being for results (applicants)
delivered to the employer's Selectech® Workforce
Management system.
Paul Rathblott, ERC's CEO,
stated, "After a number of hotel and property
management client implementations, it became obvious
to us that there were enough common requirements
among participants in this industry segment to
justify developing a tailored offering. As such, we
have configured our standard Selectech product to
address these common elements, but, at the same
time, still offer the flexibility to configure the
system for a specific hotel location, brand or
property management company."

demonstration and explanation of the benefits of
Selectech® Workforce Management: Hospitality, you
