Deep Release:
Students Turn to Entrepreneurship
to Create Lives of Passion, Purpose, and Prosperity
AmoroCorp (PINKSHEETS: AORO) -- For years, Millennials (the generation born
between roughly 1980 and 1994) have been warned about the changing economy and
the challenges of the job market. They know not to expect lifetime job security
in a job market that sends both menial and highly skilled jobs overseas. Armed
with their millennial technology -- computers, internet, cell phones and more --
this generation will not be fazed. They expect careers that are high-paying,
impact-making, and fulfilling. And in the case they can't find a job that fits
these idealistic requirements, they are prepared to make one.
Sheena Lindahl, Michael Simmons and Adam Witty, three
24-year-old Millennials, are taking advantage of this opportunity and launching
the first ever collegiate entrepreneur road tour, the Extreme Entrepreneur Tour
(EET), this fall. EET brings America's top young entrepreneurs to 10 campuses
for a full-day event to spread the entrepreneurial mindset. VenturePort has
signed on as the title sponsor joined by Inc. Magazine and the American
Management Association as media and associate sponsors, respectively.
Speakers include the Who's Who of Millennial Young
Entrepreneurs, who have made, earned, and sold their company for millions and/or
made a huge impact before the age of 25.
America's Youngest Black CEO Of Any Public Company
For example, Ephren Taylor at 24 years old is the
youngest-ever African-American CEO of a publicly held company. His two public
companies, AmoroCorp (AORO) and City Capital Corporation (OTCBB:
CCCN), are focused on creating affordable housing for
homeowners, especially in urban environments. Taylor won Kansas Entrepreneur of
the Year Award in 2002 for his unique investment strategies that create
profit-building opportunities in arenas most often thought of as "charitable."
Using outside-the-box approaches such as Credit-Investing, where clients can
invest using only their good credit and keep 100% of the returns, his company is
proving it is possible to Empower Communities With Socially-Conscious
Development, but as a profitable public company. Another speaker, Ryan Allis,
http://www.ryanallis.com/, has built three companies to $2 million in revenue by
the ripe age of 22.
Lindahl said, "We learned that of every 10 high school and
college-age students, between 6 and 7 aspire to start a business of their own.
However, when talking to some of these people we realized that many needed
inspiration and support to achieve this dream. That's how we came up with the
idea for the tour."
This is not the group's first entrepreneurial venture. Lindahl
and Simmons started an educational media company called Extreme Entrepreneurship
Education in 2003, as college sophomores, with the mission to help students
plan, prioritize, and pursue their vision in life using the entrepreneurial
mindset. That is Simmons' second business, his first being a web-development
company he started at the age of 16, through which he won three Entrepreneur of
the Year awards. Witty is a serial entrepreneur, who currently owns and operates
Advantage Networks, a college, mobile, and sports marketing firm.
While all three are in agreement that entrepreneurship needs
more support in colleges, they say it is getting better, noting the willingness
of schools to bring the Extreme Entrepreneur Tour to their campus. And the
statistics back this up -- in 1970, 16 entrepreneurial courses were offered at
various business schools nationwide. In 2003, there were 700 to choose from --
from single classes to full degree programs (Source: Entrepreneur Magazine).
