Reveille and Hyperbole
EXCELER8™ Corporation | We've got the formula.
(right people + right focus) X expertise = EXCELER8ion™
We make the time, we know interactive advertising and we can accelerate your results. We know that even the most talented individual and team can be rendered ineffectual if tasked with too many responsibilities or if they've been asked to do a job that they're not prepared for. Sound familiar? You can end up with watered down results or no results at all. We believe companies and individuals need flexible access to resources to effectively do business in an environment where emerging opportunities place sudden demands on you and your staff. That's where EXCELER8™ comes in.

Monster (MNST), and Deploy Solutions announced a strategic alliance relationship to serve the hourly market. The companies will work collaboratively to help businesses with large hourly workforces streamline the hiring process to more quickly identify and hire quality job applicants.

Eagle Professional Resources announced financial results for the period ended February 28, 2006. Revenues for the quarter were $24 million, up 15% from the same quarter last year. With two remaining quarters before Eagle's tenth anniversary, the company posted its 38th consecutive profitable quarter. Eagle was officially awarded Platinum Club status as of Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies, a designation reserved for companies which have received the 50 Best Award for more than six consecutive years. Also during this quarter, Eagle released its official blog, which can be found at http://eagleceonews.blogspot.com.

Positioned at the intersection of two major trends -- online communities and Web 2.0 -- Userplane, the leading provider of live community software, announced that the company's apps have now been deployed on more than 100,000 websites, reaching in excess of 40 million users in 20 countries.

Administaff, Inc. (ASF), the nation's leading Professional Employer Organization (PEO), announced that the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas ("Court") granted Administaff's motion to dismiss each of the securities fraud claims previously filed against Administaff and certain officers and directors. The Court's ruling, issued March 30, 2006, validates the company's previously disclosed position that the claims were without merit.

Argentina:
Tragedy Spurs Action Against Slave Labour
Denunciations of sweatshops operating in the Argentine capital have piled up over the past few years in the city government and the courts. But not until six undocumented immigrants - including four children - died in a fire did the authorities announce measures to crack down on the network of clandestine textile factories that use slave labour. MetLife's New ``Living Longer, Working Longer'' Study Finds That Retirement is More a ``State'' Than a ``Date''
Working Retireds'" Limited Savings and Longer Life Expectancies Conflict with Their Desire for Self-Employment and Part-Time Hours -- Older workers today are changing the concept of retirement as theylive longer and work well past traditional retirement age - some evenreturning to the workforce after they "retire" and/or opting for"portfolios" of paid and volunteer positions, according a new MetLifeMature Market Institute(R) study, Living Longer, Working Longer: TheChanging Landscape of the Aging Workforce, conducted by David DeLong &Associates, Inc. and Zogby International. Unlike other industrystudies which have offered predictions of the aging Baby Boomers'retirement expectations, the MetLife "Living Longer, Working Longer"study examines the actual work experiences of employees age 55-70. Thestudy findings were unveiled today at a symposium hosted by MetLifeand the International Longevity Center-USA. (Finanzen)

Global:
Networking Your Way to an Executive Referral
Now that you've got more than a few sales under your belt, it's time to get that golden top-officer referral. I sometimes hear salespeople (and entrepreneurs) complain that they don't (or can't, or have never been able to) generate quality referrals. Baloney!  Here's a simple, reliable way to initiate a powerful referral that puts you on the radar screen of the very important top officer, or VITO, at your target organization. It's an extremely powerful technique that has the additional advantage of working quickly. Here's how to pull it off. (The Street)

The State of Web 2.0, The Future of Web Software
Despite some disdain for the term Web 2.0, the underlying ideas seem to be genuinely taking off from the seed of successful techniques of the first generation of the Web. Here's an in-depth review of the future of Web 2.0 and online software from Web 2.0 proponent, Dion Hinchcliffe. Like or hate the term, the actual ideas in Web 2.0 are turning out to not only usable but a growing cadre of companies are actively being successful with them. This includes the Ajax phenomenon being actively pursued by Microsoft and Google, widespread social software, and massive online communities like MySpace. These trends are all leading to predictions on the ultimate fallout of these changes, something increasingly called social computing. " (Slashdot)

India:
India's Lust for Luxe
India's nouveaux riches are spending like never before, and high-end retailers from Herm่s to Tiffany are eager to oblige
New Delhi entrepreneur Natasha Chaudhri chases after expensive fashion products like a big-game hunter in pursuit of wildlife pelts. Owner of three restaurants in Bombay and Goa, two lifestyle stores in Delhi and an export business, Chaudhri, 30, has the money, if not necessarily the time, to go on shopping safari, and her closet is full of trophies: Louis Vuitton, Prada and Chanel handbags; sunglasses by Bulgari and Gucci; countless designer outfits; shoes by Sergio Rossi, Tod's and Jimmy Choo. These days, she doesn't have to go overseas to indulge. Jimmy Choo, for example, just announced plans to open its first outlet in India, much to Chaudhri's delight. "I think it is fabulous," she says, "because India has become a great luxury goods market." Upscale Indians "are super-trendy," adds Chaudhri. "We love brands." (Time)

Why Indian IT firms are hiring globally
India reaped new fortunes in its recent rise as an outsourcing powerhouse. But now India hears footsteps: China, the Philippines, Hungary, the Czech Republic and several Latin American countries are luring offshore outsourcing jobs as well. The surprise: Some of India's offshoring giants are offshoring themselves, fueling the next round, and U.S. firms are joining in. Indian outsourcer Tata Consultancy Services has opened offices in Budapest, Hungary and Hangzhou, China. Last year it acquired a 1,300-employee outsourcer in Chile, and it plans to add 1,500 to the 485 people at its Brazil arm. "Several years ago we decided the India-centric model had to change. We needed to offer seamless delivery from around the globe," says Subramanian Ramadorai, chief executive. (Rediff)

South Africa:
Sapoa drive to overcome skills shortage
COMMERCIAL property authority Sapoa plans to launch research and education programmes this year, to help the industry overcome serious skills shortages. At a meeting in Port Elizabeth last week, Sapoa president T C Chetty said a survey of its 866 members found a need for market research as well as skills training programmes. "As the industry is growing, so is the need for skills – especially for property managers," Chetty said. (The Herald)

UK:
Google launches enhanced local ads
Google has extended its AdWords service to appeal to local businesses in a development that will be seen as an increasing challenge to local newspaper advertising. Local businesses using the AdWords programme in Canada, the US and the UK will appear next to search listings for related areas and businesses. Ads on Google.com listings are in text form and on Google Maps the ads will appear as a balloon over the map. The ads combine details from advertisers signed up to the AdWords programme with information in Google's business directory, similar to Yelllow Pages. Ads list the company name, address and description with web address and on Google Maps, show the location of the business with its phone number. (journalism.co.uk)

Online IT recruitment spending increases
More middle-managers are finding jobs in IT via the web, according to one online recruitment vendor
Online spending on IT recruitment has increased over the last year, according to new research by web recruitment firm Fish4jobs. In a survey of their IT clients last month, 57 percent of respondents said they thought more money is being spent on recruiting IT staff online now than in 2005, while 29 percent said they thought the figure was the same. The trend can be partly explained by the increasing percentage of the UK population now connected to the internet, according to Fish4jobs group marketing director, Sean Mahon. (ITWeek)

US:
Companies courting talent at Game Developers Conference
Bay Area game companies were wooing prospective employees at last week's annual Game Developers Conference with just about everything they could find: travel toothbrushes, yo-yos and, of course, the opportunity to work on what could be next year's hit computer game. San Francisco's LucasArts, for instance, aims to hire 70 people in the next seven months to work on titles for the new game consoles including Microsoft's Xbox 360 and, soon, Sony's PlayStation 3. The hiring spurt is part of a turnaround orchestrated by President Jim Ward, who laid off 15 percent of LucasArts' workforce in 2004, scaled back in-house development to concentrate on fewer titles, and launched a marketing blitz for new games that included an appearance on Donald Trump's "Apprentice" show.  (San Francisco Business Times)

Patronage Hiring

Hiring on the rise
Companies compete to add and retain marketing pros, especially online specialists
Happy days may be here again for marketing executives as hiring in Fortune 500 marketing departments is on the rise. But with that good news comes the challenge of keeping talented marketing pros on board once they are hired. According to recruiting agency Aquent Marketing Staffing, more than half (57%) of marketers say they plan to hire additional staff this year. That was among the findings in Aquent's "2006 Spending & Staffing Trends for Corporate Marketing Departments" report released late last month. Aquent surveyed more than 1,700 marketing professionals at Fortune 500 companies in North America via e-mail in February. "The market is really hot right now," said Arun Sinha, corporate VP-CMO at Pitney Bowes. "We've stepped up hiring." (BtoB)

Online Newspaper Readership Soars
A study being released Monday by the Newspaper Association of America, a trade group, found that one in three Internet users — 55 million — visit a newspaper Web site every month. Also, unique visitors to newspaper Web sites jumped 21 percent from January 2005 to December 2005, while the number of page views soared by 43 percent over the same period. (Fox)

NYTimes.com Builds Original Video Inventory to Satisfy Advertiser Demand
The Times they are a-changin' again. New and planned NYTimes.com enhancements bring additional video ad inventory and sponsorship opportunities as well as promises of a more personalized experience for the news site's readers. As part of a host of new site features to be launched in the coming weeks, NYTimes.com will now present more original video content directly on its homepage, most main site section pages and link to it via a navigation tab at the top of each page. "There's just going to be more inventory for video [ads]," said Alyson Racer, VP sales at NYTimes.com, adding, "You hear it across the Web; there's a thirst for this kind of inventory." She noted that Lexus and AT&T will be running pre-roll ads within the site's embedded video content starting today. (ClickZ News)
