The first wave of Gen-Xers is turning 40 this year. According to workplace experts, Gen-Xers expect to have five to 10 different jobs in their careers.

Micromuse, a San Francisco-based maker of business and service
assurance software signed a deal to acquire Atlanta-based security management firm GuardedNet for $16.2 million. Micromuse states that this will allow it to broaden its technology portfolio in the areas of security
analysis, risk mitigation, incident management and compliance software.

Monster announced the fourth year of its highly successful Diversity Leadership Program (DLP).  This year 1,800 college sophomores, juniors and seniors have been selected - out of an applicant pool of over 28,000 -  to take part in six separate weekend seminars that help to develop life skills for success and explore future career opportunities by uniting them with some of America's top companies.

Confidence among U.S. workers rebounded in June as the Hudson Employment Index increased 3.1 points to 103.0 from 99.9 in May. This month's is the highest it has been since the beginning of the year when it reached 107.0.  Although, the latest reading is significantly lower than one year ago, when it came in at 107.5. The most recent increase is due to renewed optimism in personal finances and a decrease in anticipated lay off activity.
